How to Prepare For a Brow Lift Surgery

A brow lift, also referred to as browplasty or a brow lift, is a very common cosmetic surgery procedure utilized to raise a droopy eyebrow which can be due to aging, excessive crow’s feet or due to various scalp problems. The main goal of this cosmetic procedure is to make your eyebrows less droopy and to give them a higher level of prominence so that they look more youthful and not droopy and wrinkled like when you were younger. This type of cosmetic surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The recovery period varies depending on the extent of the procedure and the extent of swelling and bruising that is experienced after the procedure. Many people choose to have this procedure done to improve their self-confidence and to regain their youthful appearance.

In the past, this type of cosmetic surgery was performed by plastic surgeons on an individual basis. As technology advanced, this has changed and now this procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis in a safe and hygienic environment. The procedure does not require a long recovery period and can be completed within a few hours time. There are different types of procedures that can be done in order to lift the eyebrows. The first is the brow lift, which is also referred to as an upper eyelid surgery. During this procedure, excess fat and skin is removed from the upper eyelids to give them a younger appearance and to tighten the eyebrows.

It is important to determine if you are a good candidate for a brow lift before having this procedure. If you are not obese, but have heavy lines and wrinkles in your forehead or other facial areas then this may not be a good candidate. If you are younger than 45, then you may also be a good candidate for this type of surgery. Many people go through life without realizing the damage that excess fat and sagging in the face can do to their appearance and so they never get treated. In addition, if you have a double chin that is prominent then you may also be a good candidate.

A candidate for a blepharoplasty must have healthy gums and an elastic one that can easily bend forward without causing any pain. Any previous surgeries that you have had should be completed in a timely manner. Ideally, you want to be at least 40 years old, but sometimes younger patients are able to get this treatment. If you have any sort of neck or facial problem, then you must be a good candidate for a brow lift.

The recovery time for a brow lift is about two weeks, which is very fast for a cosmetic procedure. This type of surgery typically costs about $1000 and most insurance companies will not cover it because of the risk of complications. Patients who have had other plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift and or chin implant surgery will have a longer recovery time and more expenses. For this reason, it is important to talk to your surgeon before you agree to have this done. He or she will be able to give you a better idea of the expectations for recovery time. Because of the nature of this procedure, you should consider getting one if you have had a lot of plastic surgery in the past, or if you smoke.

The surgeon will talk to you about any underlying medical conditions you may have and then he or she will schedule an initial consultation. During the initial consultation, the cosmetic surgeon will discuss how they plan to perform the lift with you and how they plan to place your jaw after the procedure. He or she will review the risks that you may face during surgery, including infection, bleeding, and nerve damage. He or she will also discuss how to minimize these risks and help you to be as comfortable and happy as possible.

In order to get the desired results, your surgeon will use a local anesthesia to numb the area and will usually begin with a scalp reduction. The scalp reduction involves making small incisions in strategic areas to help remove the excess tissue and skin. The surgeon will typically remove a significant amount of tissue and may use liposuction techniques to get rid of adipose tissue as well. After this is completed, the surgeon will use scalpels to shape the new profile. This can take anywhere from six to eight hours depending on the exact technique used and the complexity of the procedure.

Once the scalp lift has been completed, the final step will be to cover up the incisions with scalpels and dressings to resemble the patient’s natural hairline. It is at this point that the surgical facility will administer local anesthesia and place an anesthetic patch on the area to protect it during the night. At approximately eight hours post-surgery, your doctor will have you ready to leave the surgical facility. He or she will allow you to drive yourself home and will call you daily to make sure you are recovering properly.

Recovering From a Brow Lift

A brow lift, also called a browplasty or browlift is a common plastic surgery procedure typically used to lift a droopy eyebrow which can severely interfere with vision and/or to eliminate the deep lines that run along the forehead. It is one of the most common procedures in plastic surgery. A brow lift is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and it is non-invasive, although some patients may have slight swelling and bruising at the incision sites. Some patients experience pain and tenderness following the treatment but these usually subside after a few days. You should expect to pay more for a brow lift than for other plastic surgeries and it is important that you find a surgeon with many years of experience performing this type of surgery.

Eyebrow lifts are most effective when done on people who have very thin or weak forehead skin. This means that if you fall into this category then your doctor should be experienced and able to make an accurate estimate of the amount of skin that will need to be removed and how much it will weigh. Your doctor will also have a better idea about the potential benefits and risks before examining you.

For patients who are not considered thin but have weak or receding eyebrows, an eyebrow lift can produce dramatic results. Your surgeon will use scalpels and other tools to slowly pull the skin tight over your eyebrow area. When done properly, it will look like your eyebrows are being lifted. Because your skin is stretched taut over the muscles of your eyebrow region, it should not feel too tight. In fact, you may even be able to move your head while under the surgical laser beam.

The next part of the procedure is the incision itself. The plastic surgeon will make an incision inside your eyebrow where your eyelid meets your forehead. They may also use incisions inside your hairline as well to bring attention to your eyebrows again. The incisions made will allow your plastic surgeon to lift your eyebrow in any direction they see fit during the surgery.

There is some swelling after your eyelid surgery and bruising is normal. You will need to follow your doctor’s post-surgery instructions to help minimize swelling. Your eyelid area will be sore and sensitive for a few days after the surgery. You may even experience some swelling, tenderness, and/or a lump underneath your eyelid area. If you notice any of these symptoms, it is best to contact your surgeon as soon as possible so the surgery can be scheduled for a day or two later.

After your brow lift and eyelid surgery, you will be able to notice differences immediately. Thin areas on the eyebrow and upper lashes of the eye will begin to appear less sharp. The corners of your eye will appear larger. Many times people notice an improvement in their eyesight right away. Your face will no longer look sunken like it did before your surgery. The corners of your eyes will look sharper.

Most patients are thrilled with the results of the surgery. You will be able to go back to work immediately following the surgery. No one in your family or circle of friends will be able to tell that you had this done. There will be no obvious scarring from the procedure. As long as you follow your post-operative instructions, you should not have any problems returning to your normal activities.

It is important that you give yourself time to heal after your brow lift. You must use non-inflammatory ointments every day to reduce the swelling and irritation in the area. You must stay away from anything that might irritate your eyes such as contact lenses and makeup. This can cause additional pain and damage to your eyes. You must be alert to any changes in the area. Contact your surgeon if you notice any worsening conditions.

Why the Brow Lift Procedure Is a Good Choice

A brow lift, or browplasty, which more commonly known as a brow lift or midline brow lift, is a surgical cosmetic procedure used to lift a sagging eyebrow which can obstruct vision and/or to eliminate the deep facial wrinkles that run along the forehead. The procedure is done under general anesthesia in an out-patient surgery suite. The recovery time takes about a week. There are two procedures to choose from: the brow lift that lifts only the eyebrows and the Midline brow lift which lift the jaw line, the latter of which results in the deep furrows behind the eyes being addressed.

Patients generally experience minimal discomfort during and after the procedure and most will opt to wear make-up throughout the procedure so there is no downtime. The brow lift incisions are made along the natural crease under the upper eyebrow where it meets the lower eyelid, with minimal scarring following the incision. The procedure typically takes one to three hours to perform.

The procedure can be done with a number of incisions and different procedures may be performed at different times. For starters, the lower part of the eyebrow can be lifted thus giving the appearance of a longer upper eyelid. Incisions are then made below the upper eyelids on both sides to give a firmer appearance. The scars in this area are hard to treat and thus fade naturally over time. Patients who have opted for a brow lift to address deep forehead wrinkles typically opt for the Midline procedure to eliminate the furrows. This is a safer procedure as less incisions are required.

Once the incisions have been made, a plastic surgeon performs the procedure. Sutures or surgical tape are used to seal the incisions and cover them with a small bandage. If the skin has any small punctures, these should also be closed using sterile sutures. The sutures are removed in a few weeks after surgery. There will be swelling and bruising at first but these will decrease with time. Full recovery usually takes about a year.

As we said earlier, the candidate for the brow lift must be at least 18 years old and with a reasonably normal appearance. Smoking and alcohol use inhibit good candidates for the operation as well as sun exposure. Therefore, a sunless tanning lotion or a self-tanning lotion is recommended. Smoking affects the collagen production in the skin and hence affects the skin tone.

In the brow lift, incisions are made below the ears and hairline on both sides of the nose. Sutures are then placed in the incisions to close them. A small tube is inserted through the incisions to deliver the blood for the cosmetic procedures. Sutures are removed when the wound heals and the skin are stretched back flat. Patients who do not heal well from their first brow lift surgery may want to have the procedure performed again at a later date.

Immediately after the surgery, patients should avoid strenuous activities that may have potential risks and should engage in light exercise to hasten the healing process. They should avoid sitting in one position for a long period of time as this could strain their neck muscles and lead to neck pain and headaches. They should ensure that they keep their head elevated, with their neck fully extended during the day and supported by a head support. It is important to consult the surgeon if they develop any complications from their brow lift surgery such as infection or a swollen neck. Medication should be avoided for several days and patients should expect to go home with some slight pain and swelling in their neck area.

A good candidate for the blepharoplasty is a candidate with youthful clear skin that does not have many dark or spotty areas. The candidates good to have this procedure should have a natural skin tone that is soft and elastic and does not have a very heavy underarm hairline. If the candidate is within 25 years of their actual age, they are a good candidate for the procedure. A candidate with fair skin will also do better than a dark skinned person as the blepharoplasty can cause some bruising around the eye area. For those candidates who are below the age of eighteen, the surgeon may recommend that they wait to have the procedure until they are at least twenty years old. All patients are considered to be candidates for the blepharoplasty, whether they meet all of the above criteria or not.
